The Brant Point Lighthouse is America's second oldest lighthouse, and the shortest light in New England. This is the tenth version of this light, some were burned down, some poorly constructed and some taken down by ferocious Nor'easters, some condemned and rotted. It's the light that greets visitors arriving by ferry, and is the most popular on the island. It's the custom to throw a penny in the water when leaving Nantucket Island to ensure a return visit.
