Description
The powerful waves crash on the rocks under stormy skies in this watercolor painting of the Thatcher Island Lights, also known as "Ann's Eyes", in Rockport, Massachusetts as seen from the Gloucester shoreline. The Thatcher Island Lights were the first lights seen by many travelers coming from Europe into the Massachusetts Bay. These lights were given much importance, and were used to test a new lighting apparatus designed by Winslow Lewis of Boston. The lighthouse superintendent viewed the twin lights from a distance and declared the new light to be like a "brilliant star" when compared to the old light.

Excellent in its delicate colors and perfect balanced composition. Your light touch in capturing those elusive clouds and waves is masterful.

Thanks so much, Marsha. I'm intimidated by the pure, white paper before me...what if I wreck it? Oh well! Go for it girl!! :-)
